Giving to ProMedica Foundation

Once a person decides to partner with ProMedica to improve the health and well-being of our community through philanthropy, there are many ways to make a gift that matches the donor’s life circumstances, financial situation and desired gift amount. Your team of financial advisors can help you evaluate your options. If you need an advisor or don’t feel your advisors are well-versed in philanthropic giving strategies, the ProMedica Foundation has relationships with a robust network of financial and legal professionals to whom we can refer you.

Cash Gifts

A cash donation is one of the most effective ways to support ProMedica, ensuring your generosity goes to work right away.

ACH/Wire Transfer

If you would like to give via an ACH/wire transfer, please contact ProMedica Foundation at promedica.foundation@promedica.org or 419-291-0212 for banking information.

One-Time Gifts

A single gift can be made through check or credit card. Gifts are usually tax-deductible in the calendar year they are delivered to ProMedica Foundation.

Pledge Over Years

A gift may be structured as a pledge to be paid over a period of years. The period, including the pledge start date, is mutually agreed upon between the donor and ProMedica Foundation. Generally, pledge periods are five years or fewer. Pledges can be structured to be paid via check, credit card or appreciated stock. Pledged gifts are tax-deductible for the amounts paid during a calendar year.

Planned Giving

Bequests

By working with your legal advisor and ProMedica Foundation, it is possible to name ProMedica Foundation as a beneficiary in your will or trust. Estate gifts naming ProMedica Foundation as a beneficiary of a specific amount (not a percentage of the estate) may be recognized by ProMedica Foundation and are eligible for naming opportunities.

Life Insurance

By designating ProMedica Foundation as an irrevocable beneficiary of your life insurance policy, you can create a lasting impact on health care in your community. Whether donating an existing policy or purchasing a new one, this gift allows you to make a significant contribution while maintaining other assets for your loved ones. Consult with your financial advisor and ProMedica Foundation to explore how a life insurance gift can support the future of health care.

Other Planned Gifts

The ProMedica Foundation will also accept donations through charitable remainder trusts, real estate and other planned gifts.

Stocks and Mutual Funds

Donating appreciated stock can increase the value of your gift by up to 20% compared to selling and donating the cash—maximizing your impact while offering tax savings. By giving long-term appreciated securities directly to the ProMedica Foundation, you can avoid capital gains tax and receive a tax deduction for the full market value of the asset at the time of your gift.

Gifts In Kind

A gift-in-kind is a non-cash donation that provides essential goods, services, or expertise to support our patients and residents of all ages. The ProMedica Foundation welcomes certain in-kind contributions that directly benefit those in our care.

Common gifts in kind include:

Honoring Your Generosity

For many donors, giving is tied to building a legacy and making a lasting impact. The enduring public recognition provided in acknowledgement of a gift is an important part of their decision-making process.

Many recognition options are available depending on the size and designation of a gift. Capital campaigns usually include a list of recognition opportunities available at various giving levels. Recognition will be mutually agreed upon by the donor and ProMedica Foundation. Donors may also remain anonymous if preferred. Ultimately, the recognition process is designed to honor the donor's values and vision, ensuring their generosity is celebrated in a way that aligns with their personal and philanthropic goals.
