- Tuition assistance for employees in qualifying educational programs. Some educational programs, including RN to BSN, are supported in full.

Nurse Residency Program
ProMedica's Nurse Residency is designed for new graduate registered nurses and registered nurses licensed for less than 12 months. The program provides an individualized immersion plan based upon the nurse resident's training needs and location of hire. The program's goal is to ensure novice nurses develop the necessary knowledge, skill, and competence to provide safe and effective patient care. Throughout the program, the nurse resident will receive comprehensive professional development and clinical orientation with collaborative support from preceptors, unit leaders, and the workforce development team.

- Neonatal intensive care.
- OB and perinatal.
- Observation.
- Pediatrics.

Nursing Apprentice Program
The Nursing Apprenticeship Program is a development role for current registered nursing students, designed to develop and prepare the student to gain clinical skills by working one-on-one with an RN preceptor. The nursing apprentice can jump start their RN orientation before graduation and gain valuable clinical experience. In addition to developing the clinical competency of nursing students, the program helps bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application, thereby making the transition to novice nurse smoother and more effective. This is a paid, per diem position that allows flexibility to work around academic commitments.
Registered nursing students enrolled in an accredited nursing program and within 12 months of graduating as a registered nurse are eligible for the program. Six months prior to graduation, the nursing apprentice must commit to a position in the Nursing Residency Program.
Nurse apprentices will have the opportunity to learn the following skills throughout the apprenticeship:
- Basic patient care education and skill validation class (not required for current ProMedica PCTs and LPNs).
- Advanced patient care education and skill validation class.
- IV tips and techniques (after completion in nursing school).
- Epic training.
- EKG classes.
- Safe patient handling.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (where applicable).

We are a family in Fostoria – knowing each other by name – not number. The doctors and NPs are always willing to teach. It doesn’t matter how much older I get, I will always be learning at Fostoria Community Hospital! The best part of my career is providing the best possible care to locals and being able to keep them close to home, making a difference in patient’s lives and watching them smile while doing so.
I initially started as a nursing assistant in the ER, then transitioned into an ER nurse apprentice, and in June, I began my nursing journey as an ER RN. The RN residency program has been amazing to grow and flourish as a new grad nurse. It has helped bridge the classroom of being in school to working as an independent practitioner, with a preceptor to guide me. I get to work with some of the best doctors, nurses, techs and support staff in the area. I couldn’t ask for better people to work with every day.
They have an unwavering mission to provide comprehensive care in our community. They are a Non-profit that has consistently put patient needs over profitability. I have seen so many instances of empathy and compassion from Senior Administration to Support staff that have made a difference in a patient’s care.
As a new grad nurse, I knew that I wanted to work at a place that had a residency program and had heard great things about ProMedica. Additionally, I had good experiences as a nursing student during clinicals at ProMedica facilities. I choose ProMedica because it is a great environment especially as a new grad. I’ve felt nothing but support as I’m beginning my nursing career.
