Important Information Regarding ProMedica and CIGNA Healthcare

ProMedica’s contract with CIGNA insurance terminated on April 1, 2024. We continue to work with CIGNA on a contract that reflects today’s health care environment.

What does this mean?

As of April 1, 2024, patients with CIGNA commercial insurance no longer receive in-network coverage. Ohio patients with CIGNA commercial insurance could be responsible for 100% of billed charges for services provided by ProMedica out–of-network facilities and PPG providers, subject to ProMedica’s financial assistance and charitable care policy.

What if I’m pregnant or have a medical condition that requires ongoing treatment and want to continue with my out-of-network PPG provider through my delivery in 2024?

Services or office visits already scheduled for dates in 2024 should be revisited by the patient and their provider. The patient may wish to request an out-of-network waiver from CIGNA for a PPG provider to perform a procedure. Established patients as of March 31, 2024 may inquire about applying for a continuity of care waiver by (1) reaching out to CIGNA’s customer service at the phone number on the back of their insurance card; (2) calling CIGNA’s Customer Service Advocates at 1-800-244-6224; (3) using the myCigna app; or (4) visiting the CIGNA website. CIGNA will determine whether or not the continuity of care waiver is granted.
