Mouhammad Jumaa, MD is a board-certified neurologist and vascular neurologist with advanced subspecialty certifications in neuroendovascular surgery, neurocritical care, and neuroimaging. He is a nationally recognized neurovascular specialist whose career has been dedicated to advancing the care of patients with complex cerebrovascular disease through clinical excellence, procedural innovation, academic scholarship, and system leadership.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Jumaa has treated thousands of patients with challenging neurovascular conditions, including acute ischemic stroke, intracranial aneurysms, vascular malformations, carotid and intracranial stenosis, and other high-risk cerebrovascular disorders. His practice spans both advanced medical management and sophisticated endovascular interventions, reflecting a comprehensive approach to modern stroke and neurovascular care. He is widely regarded for his expertise in treating high-acuity patients and for building systems that improve outcomes and expand access to advanced therapies.

Since 2015, Dr. Jumaa has served as a leader of the ProMedica Stroke Network, where he has played a central role in expanding regional stroke access, strengthening quality metrics, and implementing system-wide innovations in acute stroke treatment. His leadership has helped develop a coordinated, high-performance stroke system recognized for delivering timely, evidence-based care across the region.

Dr. Jumaa is also deeply committed to academic medicine and physician training. He serves as Professor of Neurology at the University of Toledo, where he teaches medical students, residents, fellows, and practicing physicians. Prior to this role, he contributed to medical education at the University of Pittsburgh, helping train future neurologists and neurointerventional specialists. His educational contributions extend beyond institutional teaching into mentorship, program development, and national professional education initiatives.

His scholarly work includes more than 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and multiple book chapters addressing stroke treatment, neurointervention, neuroimaging, and systems of care. His research has contributed to both the scientific advancement of the field and the translation of evidence into real-world clinical practice.

Dr. Jumaa is actively involved in national professional leadership and certification standards. He serves on the ABMS committee involved in neuroendovascular surgery certification, helping shape training standards and credentialing pathways for the specialty. He also serves as Board Member and Treasurer of the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology, where he contributes to the society’s strategic direction, educational initiatives, and professional development efforts.

In addition to his clinical, academic, and professional leadership, Dr. Jumaa is dedicated to humanitarian service. He serves as a board member of Atlantic Humanitarian Relief and is actively involved with Halim Clinic, supporting initiatives that expand access to health care, strengthen medical infrastructure, and deliver care to underserved communities.
