Rajendra Kattar, MD, FACC

Rajendra Kattar, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist who has served patients in Toledo and the surrounding communities for more than 25 years. In addition to his clinical work in general cardiology, Dr. Kattar has served as President of the ProMedica Heart Institute since 2019, overseeing the Heart Institute service line across the ProMedica health system.

Dr. Kattar completed his medical training at the Medical College of Wisconsin and has remained committed to advancing cardiovascular care, medical quality, and patient access throughout his career. He completed his fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin and has been a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology since 1997.

Over the past two decades, he has held a variety of key leadership roles, including:

  • Chairman, Credentials Committee, St. Luke’s Hospital (2016–2018)
  • President, Medical Staff, St. Luke’s Hospital (2014–2016)
  • President Elect, Medical Staff, St. Luke’s Hospital (2012–2014)
  • Chairman, Department of Internal Medicine, St. Luke’s Hospital (2006–2009)
  • Director of Echocardiography, St. Luke’s Hospital (2006–2016)
  • Medical Director, Cardiac Rehab & Prevention Program, Henry County Hospital & Fulton County Hospital
  • Section Head, Cardiology, St. Luke’s Hospital (2004–2006)

Dr. Kattar is known for his collaborative leadership style and his commitment to ensuring high-quality, patient-centered cardiovascular care across the region. He has been instrumental in advancing the cardiology service line by recruiting top notch cardiologists in all sub-specialties and embedding new technology to procedures.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys music, playing tennis, attending sporting events and spending time with his wife, Rajitha, and their two children.
