We’re committed to being your partner in health through a patient-centered and family-centered approach. Our time with you is more than just an appointment. For us, quality care means giving you undivided attention, building trust and connecting you to the care and resources you need. As part of the region’s largest network of board-certified physicians, we’re here to help improve your health and well-being.
Centering uses a group format for health care. Patients join other patients for health checks and learning. They can also find support from others who are going through similar experiences.
Centering groups help patients develop good health behaviors and have better health.
In CenteringPregnancy® eight to 12 pregnant people meet in a relaxed atmosphere for prenatal care. Each group is comprised of pregnant persons who are due to deliver their babies around the same time. The group shares 10 visits during their pregnancy. Each visit is 90 minutes to two hours long. This gives women approximately 10 times the normal amount of time received with their provider for prenatal care.
During visits, patients will take part in their care by learning to check their own weight and blood pressure. They'll also have private time with their midwife for a belly check, to check in on the baby's growth, heartbeat and any other concerns. The rest of the visit is done as a group, in which there is discussion where patients can ask questions or offer advice. They can also hear from other pregnant women. All visits include snacks, drinks and presentations by several community resources and other health agencies.
These speakers may include:
Patients are encouraged to bring a support person with them to sessions. Groups may be in the morning, afternoon or virtual. Patients in the virtual group will have a combination of virtual and in-person meetings. We also offer a late-afternoon group that is scheduled around school hours called EMBRACE. This group is specifically for expectant teens, 19 years of age and younger. A range of group times and virtual options gives flexibility to those juggling work, school, family and everyday life.
Through CenteringPregnancy®, patients can create connections, feel supported and understand the changes they are going through. Many members form lasting friendships and are connected in ways not possible with traditional care. Additional benefits of CenteringPregnancy® include:

For CenteringParenting, six to eight parents meet with a pediatrician. They will also bring their babies who were born around the same time. Each visit is two hours long. These visits bring birthing mothers, their support people and infants who were born around the same time in community with health care providers and other parents who are experiencing similar things at the same time.
The group meets when their babies are around the following ages:
Each CenteringParenting ® visit begins with individual well-child health assessments, immunizations and developmental screenings that follow nationally recognized guidelines.
In group, moms monitor their own health goals and address key topics including stress management, nutrition and weight, and family planning. The provider and support staff lead the group in a discussion and interactive activities on topics including attachment, safe sleep, breastfeeding, nutrition, early literacy, development and safety.
Patients can talk about their child's growth, share fears and ask questions. Patients can also offer advice and hear from other moms. This group setting helps create connections and support.
