ProMedica today formally announced the appointment of James (Jim) Hoffman as the chair of the not-for-profit health system’s board of trustees. Hoffman is the retired president of KeyBank’s Michigan/Northwest Ohio District.
Hoffman joined the ProMedica Board of Trustees in 2016. He has served on multiple ProMedica committees, including the Audit Compliance Committee (2020–2021, 2026), the Compensation and Governance Committee (2021–present), serving as chair since 2025, and the Enterprise Risk Committee (2019–present), on which he served as chair from 2019 to 2024. Following his appointment as chair of the ProMedica Board of Trustees, Hoffman will also join the Finance and Quality & Safety committees.
In addition, Hoffman has been a member of the ProMedica Foundation Board and the ProMedica Insurance Corporation since 2022. He served as chair of the ProMedica Foundation Board from 2022 to 2025.
Hoffman succeeds Kurt Darrow as chair of the ProMedica Board of Trustees. While Darrow has concluded his term as chair, he continues to serve on the board.
“We sincerely thank Kurt for his leadership as board chair,” said Arturo Polizzi, president and CEO of ProMedica. “His strategic vision and sound judgment helped guide ProMedica through a period of meaningful change.”
“We are excited to build on the progress already in motion with Jim now leading the board,” Polizzi added. “His extensive experience and deep involvement across various ProMedica committees and boards bring valuable insight and perspective as we advance our vision and continue strengthening our position as the region’s leading health system.”
“I’m honored to have stepped into this role at such an important time for the organization,” said Jim Hoffman, chairman of the ProMedica Board of Trustees. “ProMedica has a clear vision for the future and a strong foundation to build upon. I look forward to continuing to work closely with fellow board members and leadership to guide continued progress and uphold our shared commitment to improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve.”
