ProMedica Flower Hospital’s Obstetrics Program Transitioning to ProMedica Toledo Hospital, Creating an Enhanced OB Program

flower hospital
ProMedica today announced the planned transition of the obstetrics (OB) program at ProMedica Flower Hospital to ProMedica Toledo Hospital, which is approximately eight miles away. The strategic decision to consolidate these OB programs is the result of multiple factors, including an opportunity for ProMedica to enhance its inpatient OB services.

The transition of the Flower Hospital OB services is expected to happen by the end of this year. Planning is now underway, and details about the enhanced OB program at Toledo Hospital will be forthcoming.

“This planned transition is an important step in enhancing our inpatient obstetric services and attracting more providers to our OB program,” said Kay Smith, vice president, provider operations, at ProMedica.” It will better equip us to meet future needs and reinforce our commitment to delivering the highest quality of care.”

Although Flower Hospital will no longer host an inpatient OB program, ProMedica’s investment in that hospital and campus will remain strong. Outpatient OB services will continue at their current locations on the campus. Additionally, Flower Hospital is currently undergoing a $30M infrastructure improvement, and leadership is actively exploring opportunities to enhance other existing offerings and introduce additional health care services on the campus.

"At Flower Hospital, our dedication to serving the community inspires us to innovate and adapt," said Darrell Wachowiak, president of ProMedica Flower Hospital. "We are excited to look at new ways to expand our other services and bring new health care solutions to meet the evolving needs of Sylvania and the surrounding area."
