What causes a wound?


Wounds can be caused by everyday accidents and injuries. These types of wounds are fairly routine and easy to care for. However, wounds caused by diabetes, poor circulation, pressure sores and other medical problems need expert treatment and care.

How can I get help?


Call ProMedica Wound Care at 800-39-JOBST (56278) to schedule an appointment. We'll examine your wound and talk to you about your overall health. Wound healing can include removing damaged tissues, infection control, changes to your diet, and pressure relief. Our nurses will teach you to take care of your wounds at home, including how to bandage, clean and protect your wound so it can heal.

What do I need to do?


Follow your wound care instructions and let us know your questions and concerns. We need to know if things change between your visits with us. It's important for you understand how to take care of your wounds and to be actively involved in the healing process.

Can my wound be treated in other way?


Hyperbaric medicine is another clinically proven option for helping wounds heal more quickly with pure oxygen. Talk with your wound care provider to see if it's a good choice for you.
