New Clinical Instructors/Faculty (including ProMedica employees) teaching at a ProMedica facility with a clinical group of nursing students are required to complete several elements of orientation which are listed here and repeated with greater detail later on this page.

ProMedica Employees working as a nursing instructor at a ProMedica Facility are required to complete many of the orientation requirements identified below. Please note, when functioning in an instructor capacity, you should NEVER wear or use your ProMedica Employee Badge/ID number. You will be guided below to secure a ProMedica Instructor Identification Badge and Number.

Schedule and Complete New Instructor Clinical Unit Orientation
Contact unit to shadow a minimum of 4 hours on each clinical unit where you will be teaching. We are happy to have you spend additional time as needed and supported by your school. Please also plan to meet with the Nurse Manager or designee to discuss unit standards, routines, and expectations. Clinical instructors will orient students to the unit/hospital, so it is important to be comfortable in the environment.
Secure your ProMedica Instructor ID Badges
- ProMedica Instructor Badges must be worn and visible at all time while in a ProMedica Facility.
- ID badges will be valid as long as annual requirements are met.
- ProMedica Instructor ID number will be printed on the back of the ID badge. This number will be used for access to various computer systems and locations within ProMedica as appropriate for clinical site.
- ID badges CANNOT be issued until your demographic information has been received and processed from the school. This processing can take up to a week.
- Please note: Instructors often ask is they can receive a "tap" badge used by ProMedica staff. At this time, ProMedica does not issue a Tap badge to instructors or students due to the increased cost.
- Please Visit the appropriate security/HR location (see below) to have your picture taken and acquire your ProMedica ID badge.
- You may visit the location most convenient to you, however please be aware that all locations outside of the Metro office will require you to return to pick up the badge at a later date.

Computer Access
Once you have your ProMedica ID badge/number, you will have access to the ProMedica Computer Network, EMR systems and other programs appropriate for your experience. Please confirm your access is working correctly before the start of your clinical time.

- Computer use is limited to the educational scope of your experience.
- Please remember the importance of maintaining complete confidentiality in the use of our software. Schools, hospitals and the US Government all have penalties for breach of confidentiality. Your signed attestation is a statement that you understand these responsibilities.

First time to a ProMedica facility
- EPIC modules completed and submitted? EPIC account activation could take up to 48 (business hours) and will NOT be active the same day the modules are completed.
