Returning Instructors/Faculty
Returning Instructors/Faculty (including ProMedica employees) teaching at a ProMedica facility with a clinical group of nursing students are required to complete several elements of orientation which are listed here and repeated with greater detail later on this page.
- Complete Intake Survey
- Complete online modules and documentation
- Verify present EPIC access matches current assignment
- Teaching in a different unit - complete unit-based shadowing (minimum 4 HR)
- Review the Student Orientation link to familiarize yourself with the content and guide your students to the site.

ProMedica Employees working as a nursing instructor at a ProMedica Facility are required to complete many of the orientation requirements identified below. Please note, when functioning in an instructor capacity, you should NEVER wear or use your ProMedica Employee Badge/ID number.

Reminder: to complete the process, perform the glucose controls and dock the glucose meter on the clinical unit.s
If moving units, schedule a Complete Clinical Unit Orientation Contact unit to shadow a minimum of 4 hours on each clinical unit where you will be teaching. Send completed Instructor Orientation Form to nursing.student@promedica.org
ProMedica Instructor ID Badges - Badges are validated when annual requirements are met.
Basic Computer Access and Use Module - please review this module for basic information resetting your password if it has been an extended time since you last logged into the ProMedica network.
Computer Troubleshooting Hints
If you need your password reset or other non-EPIC issue:
- Contact the IT Service Desk at 567-585-4357. If calling from within the facility, be sure to leave a contact number where you can be reached after you leave the facility. If you're able to log in, additional IT contact methods are available on mypromedica.
- If you continue to experience difficulty, please contact the Center of Nursing Excellence at nursing.student@promedica.org and fully explain the issue and steps you have already taken.

First time to a ProMedica facility
- EPIC modules completed and submitted? EPIC account activation could take up to 48 (business hours) and will NOT be active the same day the modules are completed.

All ProMedica Hospitals
Post-clinical experience, the clinical instructor is responsible for returning the scrubs to the Scrubex machine. In the event of non-returned scrubs, the instructor is responsible for contacting the student or submitting a payment for the scrubs. At ProMedica Toledo and Toledo Children's Hospitals, the Scrubex machine is located in the basement.
If teaching in a Metro area department that requires hospital-laundered scrubs, the clinical instructor is responsible for obtaining and requesting scrubs for the students' clinical shadow experience. ScrubEx access can be obtained by completing the following: ScrubEx Link
