ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital Announces Heightened Visitor Restrictions

ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital announced today that it is temporarily tightening its visitor restrictions to help protect patients, employees and members of the community. The change is in accordance with guidance from the Michigan governor’s office and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

ProMedica has a three-tiered hospital visitor restriction policy in the event of a pandemic. Since June, ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital had been implementing a level 2 visitor restriction. Recently, Branch County and Region 5 were designated a Michigan risk level 8, the highest level. The level indicates significant community spread as well as increased admissions and emergency department visits that are creating capacity issues. Effective immediately, ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital will shift to its level 3 visitor restriction.

ProMedica Level 3 Visitor Restrictions Highlights:

During ProMedica’s level 3 visitor restriction, the following rules apply:

• No inpatient visitors are permitted.
• No emergency department guests are permitted.
• No guests are permitted for ambulatory testing and procedures.

As an exception, labor and delivery patients will be permitted to have one in-person visitor for the duration of the stay. Those visitors must pass daily screenings and adhere to all COVID-19 preventive measures at all times. Exceptions for other extraordinary circumstances requiring an in-person visit are possible and would be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Alternative mechanisms for patient and visitor interactions, such as video-call applications on cell phones or tablets, are offered and encouraged.

ProMedica will continue to closely monitor the evolving COVID-19 pandemic and make appropriate adjustments to visitor restrictions to comply with state requirements or ordinances and to help ensure the safety of all in its facilities.
