Toledo Walleye Mascot Presents Check to ProMedica Cancer Institute

The Toledo Walleye teamed up with ProMedica Cancer Institute through their Hockey Fights Cancer campaign this past November raising awareness and over $11,000. These funds will help support ProMedica Cancer Institute programs and services for cancer patients.

With the color purple representing all cancers, Walleye players wore special purple jerseys adorned with a Hockey Fights Cancer decal, which were auctioned live on ice following the game.

ProMedica Cancer Institute offers the Best Adult and Pediatric Cancer Care close to home. Our program provides access to vast network of experts, treatment and support services. We appreciate the opportunity to partner with the Walleye on this event to increase awareness of cancer and available care in our community,” said Ann Kujawa, vice president of ProMedica Cancer Institute.

Nationally recognized services are provided through ProMedica Cancer Institute, the largest cancer registry in the region, connecting patients to a vast network of experts, treatments and support services.

Hockey Fights Cancer is a league-wide initiative founded by the National Hockey League (NHL) and NHL Players' Association and is dedicated to raising awareness for national and local organizations involved in cancer care and research.

The check was presented at the Hickman Cancer Center by the Toledo Walleye Mascot.
