Pediatric Injury Prevention and Community Outreach

Preventable injuries are the No. 1 killer of kids in the United States. Every year, nearly 5.6 million children are treated in the emergency room for a preventable injury. With education and resources, we can reduce these statistics and give children the chance to grow and reach their full potential.

ProMedica Ebeid Children’s Hospital has a dedicated staff that leads a variety of hospital and community-based approaches to keeping children safe.

Kids in Safe Seats

The Kids in Safe Seats (KISS) Program offers car seats and education for Toledo and surrounding area families. Car seats are at little to no cost depending on need. At the appointment, technicians will demonstrate how to properly adjust, harness and install a car seat. Each appointment requires 30 minutes. Technicians will ensure that the parent/caregiver will be confident in installing and using a car seat before leaving the appointment. Call us at 419-291-7945 to schedule an appointment.

Safe Kids Greater Toledo

Safe Kids Greater Toledo is led by ProMedica Ebeid Children's Hospital, which provides dedicated and caring staff, operation support and other resources to assist in achieving our common goal: keeping your kid safe. Based on the needs of the community, this coalition implements evidence-based programs, such as car seat checkups, safety workshops and presentations to help parents and caregivers prevent childhood injuries. Ohio Buckles Buckeyes

Ohio Buckles Buckeyes (OBB) is part of the Ohio Department of Health’s Child Passenger Safety Program. It provides child safety seats and booster seats to eligible, low-income families in all Ohio counties. Over the past five years, the program has distributed more than 17,000 child safety seats and booster seats. The OBB program also provides child passenger safety education to increase the proper use of child safety seats.
