The life you save with CPR is mostly likely to be someone you love! That's because statistics indicate that four out of five cases of cardiac arrest occur at home. But many Americans feel unable to act during a cardiac emergency, primarily because of a lack of training and education.
The ProMedica CPR Rescue Training Center wants to change that. All of our American Heart Association (AHA) classes are Instructor-led with hands-on skill development sessions and include the following programs.
We are also a registered Safe Sitter Teaching Center and provide classes for students in grades 6-8.
The AHA's Basic Life Support (BLS) course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
The AHA’s BLS course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.
This Course Teaches:
This course is approximately three hours in length and is taught by American Heart Association certified instructors. BLS Provider Course Completion Cards are issued to participants upon successful completion of all course requirements and are valid for two years.

Heartsaver courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who need a course completion card for job, regulatory (for example, OSHA), or other requirements. CPR and First Aid training not only provide your employees with a safe work environment but gives them a life skill that may benefit their family and community.
Onsite or group classes designed for workplace training are available at area businesses upon request.
The AHA Heartsaver CPR AED Course is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. (If you are entering the medical field you will need to take a BLS Course).

The Heartsaver First Aid course trains students in the basics of first aid for the most common first aid emergencies, including how to recognize them, how to call for help, and how to perform lifesaving skills. This course is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.

The advanced provider courses are intended for healthcare providers (i.e. physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, paramedics, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and allied health professionals) who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies or personnel in emergency response.

The AHA’s ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This course is for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies and for personnel in emergency response.
This Course Teaches:
This course is approximately seven and a half hours in length and is taught by American Heart Association certified instructors. ACLS Provider Course Completion Cards are issued to students upon successful completion of all course requirements and are valid for two years.

We offer retraining classes to anyone who is currently certified by the American Heart Association. Students must bring their current (not-expired) ACLS Provider card to the class. This course is an update to build upon the foundation of the full train ACLS course and refresh knowledge and skills necessary to maintain proficiency in the curriculum.
This course is approximately four hours in length and is taught by American Heart Association certified instructors. ACLS Provider Course Completion Cards are issued to students upon successful completion of all course requirements and are valid for two years.

The AHA’s PALS Provider course aims to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high-performance team dynamics and high-quality individual skills. The course includes a series of case scenario practices with simulations that reinforce important concepts. Upon completing the patient cases, students must pass the multiple-choice exam with a minimum score of 84%.

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program® (NRP®) course conveys an evidence-based approach to care of the newborn at birth and facilitates effective team-based care for healthcare professionals who care for newborns at the time of delivery. NRP utilizes a blended learning approach, which includes online testing and hands-on case-based simulation/debriefing that focus on critical leadership, communication, and team-work skills.
Non-ProMedica learners can request to register for Part 2 (Instructor Led Event) and approval will be based on availability. Part 1 is not included and must be purchased through the NRP Learning Platform. Documentation of Part 1 completion is required to attend Part 2. Global ID must be verified prior to class.

BLS and Heartsaver e-Learning courses offer students several flexible training options. Although the lessons for e-Learning courses are completed outside out of the classroom, instructors are an important part of conducting skills sessions for course completion and helping to ensure students effectively perform the needed skills.
A Part 1 certificate of completion is available to print upon successful completion of the online course. This certificate must be presented at the in-person skills practice and testing session with an AHA instructor. Upon completion of all three parts (Part 1 online, and Parts 2 and 3, skills practice and testing with an AHA instructor), students receive a completion card that is valid for two years.
The courses below are online and self-directed so they can be completed at work or at home, followed by a hands-on skills practice and testing session.
Cognitive course should be completed prior to scheduling your skills check offs. The online courses are available at https://shopcpr.heart.org/product-type/blended-elearning. Certificate of completion must be printed and provided at the time of skills check off, otherwise you will not be able to complete the session.

Safe Sitter Essentials with CPR is a one day class designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting.
The instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use manikins to practice rescue skills like choking rescue and CPR.
This Course Teaches:
This course is approximately five hours in length and is taught by Safe Sitter certified instructors. Upon successful completion of this course students will receive a Safe Sitter Course Completion Card and educational material.
