Knee


The knee has many parts that keep it protected, stable and mobile. To relieve knee pain, you must first figure out what’s causing the pain. Knee pain can be caused by an acute injury or by chronic wear and tear of the knee, such as osteoarthritis or degenerative joint disease. Common knee conditions include:

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears: There are numerous types of ACL tears. Some may require surgical repair, but many may be treated with regenerative medicine.

To address ACL tears, Perc-ACLR (percutaneous ACL repair) is used. Perc-ACLR is a procedure that treats full and partial anterior cruciate ligament tears. It is a highly precise X-ray guided injection of your own orthopedic bone marrow concentrate and can be completed in one day.

Knee osteoarthritis: Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common orthopaedic conditions. If can negatively impact your quality of life and enjoyment of daily activities. Your doctor can help determine if you are a candidate for regenerative medicine.

Meniscus tears: The meniscus is a cushion of cartilage between the bony ends of your thigh bone and shin bone. This cartilage acts as a shock absorber during movement. Tears of the meniscus can be the result of wear and tear on the joint or can occur when there’s an injury.

Shoulder


The shoulder joint is the most mobile joint in your body. When there's an injury or degenerative disease, your body struggles to keep the joint stable. Common conditions affecting the shoulder include:

Rotator cuff tears: The rotator cuff is a series of muscles and their tendons that surround the shoulder. It helps move the shoulder while supporting this ball in the socket joint. The tendons can become torn with trauma or wear and tear. This can cause pain and weakness in the shoulder. An MRI or ultrasound image is used to make the diagnosis.

For treatment, the outpatient procedure uses custom concentrations of your body’s natural healing agents to treat rotator cuff tears without surgery. Labrum tears / SLAP tears: The labrum is a cup-shape rim of cartilage that lines and reinforces the ball-and-socket joint of the shoulder. What is regenerative medicine?


Regenerative medicine is a same-day, nonsurgical adult regenerative procedure that treats common injuries and degenerative joint conditions. Regenerative cells are growth cells found naturally in the body. They adapt to become almost any type of cell and stimulate hard-to-repair tissues like cartilage.

Am I a candidate for regenerative medicine?


When you meet with one of our regenerative medicine specialists, we’ll review your test results and medical history to determine your eligibility. We’ll consider a number of factors, including your:

  • Activity level.
  • Age.
  • Body mass index.
  • Condition of the joint.
  • Medications.
  • Overall health.
  • Past medical and surgical history.

What can I expect during the procedure?


Procedures using Regenexx SCP and PL injectates start with a basic blood draw. Regenexx SD injectate, a bone marrow concentrate procedure, requires a bone marrow aspirate with local anesthetic. During the bone marrow aspirate, we withdraw a small amount of whole marrow from the back of your hip bones. Cells are processed from the blood or bone marrow and injected into the injured part of the body. A procedure typically takes one to three injections. You will go home the same day and be able to resume light activity within a week.

You may start to see positive results between 6-8 weeks post procedure, and may continue to see results throughout the year.

Can you have more than one treatment at a time?


It’s possible to treat multiple areas at once, but your doctor will decide if this is a good choice for you.

How much does it cost?


Blood-derived injections start at $1,200. A bone marrow procedure, which consists of three injections done within a seven to ten day time frame, costs anywhere from $6,000 to $11,000. This is based on which part of the body is being treated, the number of injection sites and any protocol recommended by the doctor. We are not able to offer payment plans for our services.

Is regenerative medicine covered by insurance?
