For a majority of stroke and spinal cord injury patients, regaining the ability to stand and walk is a physical and emotional challenge. A new, advanced robotic technology is now available to help get patients up and walking again.
The EksoNR™ is the first ever FDA approved, wearable robotic exoskeleton for stroke and spinal cord rehabilitation. With early and repetitive use, patients are getting up sooner after their injury, beginning to take steps sooner, and initiating gate faster.
ProMedica is the first in Northern Ohio to add this advanced technology to its comprehensive rehabilitation program. It adds another tool to what therapists can use to get their patient mobilized early.
The EksoNR™ is designed with custom software that allows clinicians to amplify a patients' natural ability to activate muscles and produce movement. Real-time software adjustments can be made for customized patient rehabilitation sessions. Torso support with the EksoNR™ helps to correct posture and hip width can be adjusted during sessions. Ankles are supported and kept stable. Patients report feeling secure as they re-learn correct step patterns, weight shifting and work on their posture.
