Male Birth Control

Vasectomies are a permanent and effective form of birth control for men. Each year, ProMedica performs more vasectomies than any other urology group in the region. View providers.

Male Infertility

About 15% of couples can't get pregnant during their first year of trying. In about half of those cases, the reason is male infertility. Nearly two million men are diagnosed with infertility every year in the United States. That's one in 136 men. Our experts in male infertility can help you find a solution.

Prostate Diseases

Our urologists treat prostate cancer as well as non-cancerous prostate conditions such as enlarged prostate. An enlarged prostate, or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), is a prostate disease that is not cancerous but can be uncomfortable and interfere with life.

Treatment options for prostate disease include oral medicines, minimally invasive procedures and minimally invasive robotic surgery including single-port robotic-assisted surgery. Several of our urologists are some of the few in the world trained to use the single port robot.

Sexual and Erectile Dysfunction

You may feel embarrassed to talk about erectile dysfunction or urinary problems. And we understand. But since these problems are easily treatable, we hope that you'll trust us with your concerns. Today's technology and treatment choices are very effective for curing urinary incontinence, sexual dysfunction and an enlarged prostate. Don't suffer in silence or be forced to live your life differently. Let us help.

Urinary Incontinence

Urinary incontinence, or the loss of bladder control, is a common problem. This can include leakage when you cough or sneeze, or sudden, sharp urges to urinate that are so strong you can't get to the bathroom in time.

Common causes of urinary incontinence include pregnancy and childbirth, an enlarged prostate, menopause, obesity, poor nutrition and weak muscles that control the bladder.

Our experts provide personalized treatment for urinary issues. Treatment choices can include physical therapy, medications and minimally invasive surgeries.

Depending on your needs, our team of urogynecologists, urologists and/or pelvic floor physical therapists will work closely with you to help you get control of your bladder again.

Urological Cancer

Our doctors combine skill and innovation to treat urologic cancers and support you and your family during your treatment journey. In fact, we can diagnose and treat most forms of cancer right here at our main office.

You'll receive the most advanced urinary cancer care in the area. You can have an in-office diagnosis along with the added convenience of onsite prostate screening and biopsy. We have our own board-certified urologic pathologist to evaluate biopsy specimens.

Bladder Cancer

Treatment for bladder cancer varies by how far along it has advanced in the bladder, and also depends on your age and overall health. Treatment can include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy. And, in some cases, we'll combine treatments for the best results.

Kidney Cancer

Kidney or upper tract cancer can develop into other types of cancer. Surgery is usually needed to treat kidney cancer. We offer a wide range of methods to successfully remove the cancerous areas.

Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is among the most common cancers in men, but it can be treated effectively if it's caught early. That's why regular screening for men over 50 is so important. While diagnosed cases have risen rapidly, mortality rates are dropping, in part because more men are aware of their need for screening.

We can treat prostate cancer with brachytherapy (radiation), cryotherapy (extreme cold) or robotic surgery.

Testicular Cancer

Testicular cancer is treated successfully in more than 95% of all cases. Treatment depends on the stage and tumor type and may need radiation, chemotherapy or surgical lymph node removal. Onsite imaging with ultrasound and CT scanning can help us find the right treatment for you. Surgery can be performed quickly (if needed) at our ambulatory surgery center.

Urologic Robotic Surgery

Urologic surgery can be used to treat conditions related to men's and women's urinary tracts (kidneys, bladder, ureters, prostate).

Robotic-assisted surgery can lower the risk of complications found in open surgery, and help you recover faster and with less pain.

At ProMedica, our urologic surgeons are on the leading edge of innovation in robotic-assisted surgery. Robotic surgery increases the surgeon’s control and precision, and helps spare muscle tissue, reduce blood loss, reduce pain and limit scarring.

ProMedica is the first hospital in the region to offer single-port robotic surgery. This leads to faster recovery and less pain post-operatively.

Potential benefits of robotic-assisted surgery include:

  • Effective cancer control.
  • Faster return to normal for your bladder and sexual function.
  • Less pain, shorter hospital stay and quicker recovery.
  • Minimal side effects.

Talk to your primary care provider or urologist to learn more about robotic surgery options.
