About the Vascular Lab

After a provider takes a detailed medical history and completes a physical exam, testing in a vascular laboratory is often the next step in diagnosing your vascular disease. Jobst Vascular Institute accredited vascular laboratory performs more than 30,000 studies each year, including many vascular ultrasounds.

These studies help your doctor understand what's going on with your circulatory system. That body system includes the blood vessels outside of your heart, which carry blood to parts of your body like your brain, abdomen and extremities.

Who performs vascular lab tests?

Our highly dedicated, well-trained and credentialed vascular technologists will do all that they can to make you feel comfortable during your visit to our vascular lab. We are very proud of our vascular testing accreditation through the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission. It's one more way to show you how we ensure excellent, quality testing for you.

The tests, including vascular ultrasounds, in our labs are non-invasive. That means there's no need to insert an instrument or device through your skin or into your body. There is also no exposure to radiation because we use sound waves.

Once completed, all of our studies are reviewed by one of our board-certified vascular physicians.

Jobst Vascular Laboratory is also an education site for local vascular ultrasound training programs including: Owens Community College and Jackson College.

What kinds of vascular studies are offered?

Jobst Vascular Laboratory is a full-service laboratory that provides many different types of state-of-the-art diagnostic tests. But vascular ultrasound is the most important tool in our lab and the one we use the most.

• Cerebrovascular studies of the blood flow to the brain such as carotid artery duplex, transcranial artery Doppler (TCD).
• Venous studies to address deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and chronic venous insufficiency (CVI).
• Arterial studies to determine the amount of blood flow in your arms and legs such as ankle-brachial Index (ABI), pulse volume recording (PVR), segmental pressures, and duplex scan graft surveillance.
• Abdominal studies to check the blood flow in the arteries and veins in the abdominal cavity such as ultrasound of the inferior vena cava, aorta, kidney and visceral arteries.
