Jobst Vascular Laboratory is a full-service laboratory that provides many different types of state-of-the-art diagnostic tests. But ultrasound is the most important tool in our lab and the one we use the most.
A duplex ultrasound uses sound waves to take pictures of your vessels and a Doppler to listen to blood flow through your arteries and veins. The exam is painless and easy for you. But it provides invaluable information for your physician.
Studies performed in our vascular lab include:
- Cerebrovascular studies of the blood flow to the brain: Carotid artery duplex, transcranial artery duplex (TCDi).
- Venous studies including: DVT (deep venous thrombosis), CVI (chronic venous insufficiency), APG (air plethysmography).
- Arterial studies to determine the amount of blood flow in your arms and legs: ankle-brachial Index (ABI), pulse volume recording (PVR), segmental pressures, duplex scan graft surveillance.
- Abdominal studies to check the blood flow in the arteries and veins in the abdominal cavity: ultrasound of the inferior vena cava, aorta, kidney and visceral arteries.
