Robotic Surgery at ProMedica

Choosing the right surgeon and type of surgery can make a world of difference. In addition to traditional general surgery, we also offer general surgery procedures performed by our surgeons using a robotic surgical system. Robotic surgery allows doctors to perform many types of complex procedures with more precision, flexibility, and control than is possible with traditional procedures. For patients, the advantages include less blood, decreased pain, shorter hospital stay, and faster recovery than can be achieved with open surgery.

At ProMedica, we aim to use the right technology on the right patient to result in the best outcome. Your surgeon will recommend the procedure method they feel will result in the best possible outcome for you. The robot is a great tool to have but not always the best to use for every patient. If robot-assisted surgery is not determined to be the best route for the patient, the surgeon may elect to perform a laparoscopic or open operation.
