ProMedica is pleased to announce a new restaurant coming to downtown Toledo. Don Juan Express & Cantina will be opening a new location in The Plaza, which is part of ProMedica’s downtown campus located at 300 Madison Avenue. The restaurant is expected to open in early July 2021.

Don Juan Express & Cantina will be the Don Juan Mexican Bar & Grill owner’s third restaurant in Northwest Ohio and first of the Express brand. Don Juan Mexican Bar & Grill’s existing locations are at the Franklin Park Mall and in Maumee.

“Don Juan Express & Cantina will have the same authentic Mexican cuisine at affordable prices as our other locations. However, this location will be distinctive as it is designed to cater to employees of downtown businesses and downtown residents who are looking for a quick, high-quality, lunch or dinner option that is within walking distance,” said Alberto Dominguez Martinez, owner. “We’re thrilled to be part of the reinvention of Downtown Toledo and offer something unique.”

The Plaza is being redesigned to offer exterior seating and a large patio for patrons of Don Juan Express & Cantina. Adjacent to the patio will be a pedestrian boardwalk to encourage foot traffic and easy access between North St. Clair Street and Summit Street.

“The landscape of downtown Toledo is changing quickly and the revitalization of The Plaza is an exciting project,” said Robin Whitney, ProMedica’s chief strategic planning and real estate officer. “Don Juan Express & Cantina will offer downtown residents, employees, and visitors a great option as they enjoy a newly renovated Summit Street area.”
