ProMedica CEO Randy Oostra Awarded Ohio Hospital Association’s Donald R. Newkirk Award

ProMedica is pleased to announce Randy Oostra, President and CEO, ProMedica, has been awarded the Donald R. Newkirk Award by Ohio Hospital Association (OHA). The award recognizes and honors individuals who have made a significant lifetime contribution to the health care field in Ohio and bears the name of the individual who led OHA for 27 years.

Mr. Oostra has been with ProMedica for over 20 years and has worked in health care throughout his nearly 40-year career. He is regarded as one of the nation’s top leaders in health care and has earned a spot on several prestigious listings, which include Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare and Becker's Hospital Review’s 100 Great Leaders in Healthcare. He also received American Heart Association’s Pulse of Toledo Award in 2018 and the AHA Grassroots Champion Award (Ohio) in 2015.

Mr. Oostra has been recognized nationally for his focus on the social determinants of health, with a particular emphasis on hunger, shelter, and education. He is also known for his strong commitment to the health care industry and community and serves on the boards of a number of local and national organizations.

“Randy is a tremendous leader and strong advocate for health care and hospitals,” said Mike Abrams, president and CEO, OHA. “His commitment to patients and community inspires us to be stronger stewards of health care and we are proud to honor his accomplishments and achievements.”

The Ohio Hospital Association, representing Ohio’s 237 hospitals and 13 health systems, will present its top leadership award to Mr. Oostra for his 40 years of leadership and contributions to health care during OHA’s 2019 Annual Meeting Recognition Dinner event on Tuesday, June 4, 2019.
