ProMedica Hospice Serving North Central Ohio Achieves Level Four "We Honor Veterans" Status

ProMedica Hospice serving North Central Ohio is pleased to announce its promotion to a Level Four status within the We Honor Veterans Program for its continued care and support of the Veteran population.

All wars are different and provide unique experiences and often difficulties for the Veterans who served in them. We Honor Veterans was launched by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to help improve the care veterans receive from hospice and palliative care providers.

'It is such an honor to have achieved Level Four with the We Honor Veterans Program. Our hospice team takes care of many veterans and being a part of this program allows us to honor and respect their end of life in a way that is truly fitting to their needs and something our veterans deserve,” said Emily Foreman, bereavement coordinator and co-chair of ProMedica’s We Honor Veterans program.

Sherri Wilbur, nursing assistant and We Honor Veterans program co-chair said, “We believe in providing the utmost care to all of our patients. This partnership gives us the tools and education needed to tailor our practice to veteran-specific needs. This is just one of the many ways we ensure we provide the best care possible. We look forward to pursuing Level Five in the coming year.”

The We Honor Veterans program provides four levels of recognition to organizations that demonstrate a commitment to improving care for veterans. To reach Level Four, ProMedica was tasked with learning more about caring for veterans, declaring a commitment to honoring veterans at the end of life, providing education for hospice staff and volunteers on caring for veterans and partnering with the VA at the local, regional and national level to ensure the unique needs of veterans are met.
