ProMedica Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that its diabetes self-management education services have received the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Education Recognition Certificate.
To receive certification, the recipient's diabetes education services must meet the ADA’s National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support. The National Diabetes Advisory Board developed these standards in 1983 and most recently had an update in 2017. The ADA recertifies recipients every four years. ProMedica Memorial Hospital is proud to have received the Education Recognition Certificate since 2005.
The certification provides patients peace of mind when selecting treatment options to manage their diabetes. The services selected have demonstrated high-quality education that provides patients the necessary tools to improve their diabetes management at home. This is done thanks to knowledgeable health care professionals who are committed to providing patients the highest level of quality care.
“It is an honor to be able to provide to our community a state-of-the-art education program that has achieved a rigorous and thorough review from the American Diabetes Association,” said Nancy Brown, RD, LP, ProMedica Clinical Dietitian. “Since diabetes is such a prevalent disease, we are fortunate to have the educational expertise from our education team members. Patients are always appreciative of the gained knowledge and improved outcome management of the disease after attending our program at ProMedica Memorial.”
ProMedica Memorial Hospital’s diabetes education services have been providing patients with nutrition education, glucose management and healthy behavioral goal setting since 2003.
