ProMedica Receives La-Z-Boy Donation for its Frontline Workers

ProMedica was pleased to accept a generous donation of La-Z-Boy massage chairs at each of its acute care facilities across northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan for staff to utilize and enjoy.

“It became apparent during the COVID-19 pandemic that frontline workers needed a place of respite and relaxation at each of our hospital locations,” said Leslie Meyer, ProMedica associate vice president of service excellence. “By offering dedicated spaces of relaxation for our frontline workers, they can recharge and best serve their patients.”

“We really wanted to do this for our teams but were not sure how to begin. We reached out to Susan Vanisacker, director of community relations and the La-Z-Boy Foundation, who sits on a ProMedica Patient Experience Board Focus group. We knew she was a part of the La-Z-Boy team and hoped she could point us in the right direction,” said Meyer, “When approached, she was eager to see how she could help.”

“The La-Z-Boy philosophy is to bring quality and comfort to people,” said Vanisacker. “We immediately saw the need for comfort in frontline caregivers, not just during the pandemic, but all the time. A moment of relaxation can make a world of difference.”

Thanks to the generous donation, ten ProMedica acute care facilities now have a relaxation room with a La-Z-Boy massage recliner. The ProMedica Foundation provided special chair coverings to uphold all safety protocols.
