Behavioral Health: Find Hope for a Brighter Tomorrow

Most of us don't think twice about getting help for our physical concerns. But we often hesitate when it comes to our mental well-being. Yet nearly half of us will have a mental or emotional issue at some point in our lives, so it's important to know that help is near.

Early intervention to help prevent health problems is just as vital for the mind and emotions as it is for the body. Get the right diagnosis and find the best possible treatment, so you can feel like yourself again.

Our Approach

When you or a loved one face a mental health issue, you want caring and proven treatment. With a wide range of counseling and psychiatric services, ProMedica is ready to help you and those you love most. Every service is delivered by a compassionate team that specializes in behavioral health for children, teens and adults.

A Compassionate Network of Providers

ProMedica's mental health professional network works across northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. It provides specialized, compassionate support and secure and private care.

Our multidisciplinary approach makes sure you get treatment that's tailored to your specific mental health needs. When you turn to us for help, you'll have access to:

  • Counselors who assess and diagnose mental health conditions and provide individual or group therapy.
  • Nurses to help assess, treat and manage cases, and assist with psychotherapy.
  • Physicians to guide your treatment plan.
  • Psychiatrists to evaluate medical and psychiatric issues, treat psychiatric disorders, provide psychotherapy, and prescribe and monitor medicines.
  • Psychologists to provide psychological testing and evaluations, treat mental disorders, emotional and behavioral problems and offer a range of psychotherapeutic methods.
  • Social workers to provide case management, inpatient discharge planning, placement services and other daily-living services.
  • Therapists to support your rehabilitation needs.

Mental Health Care Close to Home

Our goal is to support your commitment to better mental health. To make it easier to get treatment, we have multiple locations that provide services to the entire Toledo metro area, as well as southeast Michigan. This includes specialized programs for children, teens and adults at these ProMedica facilities:

Our Services

We believe early intervention and treatment are the keys to helping people who are challenged with emotional problems, mental illness or chemical dependence. But the onset of behavioral health issues can be different for everyone. Our expert staff is ready to guide you through diagnosis, treatment and recovery, no matter where you are in your mental health journey.

We can help you get on the path to emotional wellness with outpatient and inpatient services that include community education programs, crisis intervention, counseling and therapy. Treatment can be arranged at your request, or at the request of family members and by referral from a doctor, clergy member, school representative, employer or another agency.

Special Services for Children and Adolescents

Childhood is a time of rapid changes in the body, mind and emotions. So when your child's behavior suddenly changes, how do you know if it's just a phase or something more serious?

There's a wide range of "normal" behavior among children. But when certain behaviors stray from what is normal for your child, or they become constant or severe, it's worth taking a deeper look at what's going on. Getting an early, accurate diagnosis is vital – so your child gets the right help and support.

Our pediatric psychological services for children and adolescents include both inpatient and outpatient treatments. They're designed to address the mental health concerns and conditions that impact young people, including:

  • Anxiety disorders: Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), separation anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
  • Behavioral conditions: ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), drug use, criminal activity and anger management.
  • Developmental disabilities: Autism, language disorders and intellectual disabilities.
  • Eating disorders: Anorexia nervosa, binge eating and bulimia.
  • Mood disorders: Depression, bipolar disorder and self-harm.
  • Substance disorders.
  • Suicidal behavior.

Substance Abuse Treatment

Dual diagnosis treatment is an integrated approach for individuals experiencing both a mental health disorder (such as depression, PTSD, or anxiety) and substance use at the same time. This method addresses both conditions simultaneously, recognizing their interconnected nature, rather than treating each one separately. Sometimes, this is also referred to as co-occurring disorders treatment.

The services we offer as part of dual diagnosis care, include:

  • Individual and family therapy
  • Educational programs
  • Collaboration with self-help groups
