Integrating Essential Clinical Knowledge into Vascular Practice
The Jobst Vascular Surgery Fellowship at ProMedica Toledo Hospital is a clinically and academically mature independent vascular surgery program designed to prepare graduates for a career in the academic or private practice of vascular surgery. The 24-month program is approved by the Residency Review Committee of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
Fellows spend the entirety of the two-year fellowship in clinical practice. As a Jobst Fellow, you'll experience a well-balanced load of open vascular surgical procedures and credential-qualifying endovascular cases. Fellows participate in catheter-based diagnostic and therapeutic interventions (including arteriography, venography, vascular access and guidewire techniques, angioplasty, stenting, atherectomy, laser treatment, radiofrequency ablation, and endovascular grafting for occlusive and aneurysm disease) in order to master this expanding area of vascular therapeutics.
To ensure RPVI passage by our fellows, we emphasize in-depth, hands-on vascular lab experience. At the appropriate time in their training, residents are provided time and financial support to sit for the RPVI and RVT examination.
Facility Details
The Jobst Vascular Surgery Fellowship is a community-hospital based program which has the advantage of an academic affiliation with the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. The bulk of your training and experience will take place at ProMedica Toledo Hospital, a tertiary care hospital and referral center for a 21-county area in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. JVI performs over 25,000 noninvasive studies and 2,000 surgical cases annually in advanced facilities that include dedicated vascular operating rooms and an endovascular surgery suite. Research Opportunities
Not only do our fellows benefit from experiencing the broad spectrum of cases seen by a busy community hospital, but they also have access to a strong support system for academic research. Jobst fellows participate in clinical research and present at regional, national, and international conferences. Several of our graduates have won research prizes at major national conferences. To aid our fellows' research efforts, we have a dedicated research staff including Associate Director of Research and Education, full-time vascular coordinators and educators, and a regulatory specialist. This support is invaluable in helping you establish a pattern of scholarly productivity from the beginning of your vascular surgery career.

Rotations
Vascular laboratory training is an integral component to learning successful diagnostic and interpretation practices. During your vascular lab rotations, you'll practice hands-on operation of equipment followed by proctored clinical testing. you'll also participate in vascular laboratory interpretation with attending vascular surgeons. These vital skills are but a few components of the diverse vascular lab experience fellows will gain.
