The Jobst Vascular Medicine Fellowship at ProMedica Toledo Hospital, in collaboration with The University of Toledo College of Medicine, is a clinical and academic program designed to prepare graduates for a career in vascular medicine.
The 24-month Jobst Vascular Medicine Fellowship is a community-hospital based program. The majority of your training and experience will take place at ProMedica Toledo Hospital, a tertiary care hospital and referral center for a 27-county region in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.
Traditional Vascular Medicine in Inpatient and Ambulatory Settings
At the end of the first year, the fellow will be required to pass the Registered Physician Vascular Interpretation exam and obtain certification in hyperbaric medicine. Also, the fellow will be eligible to sit for the American Board of Vascular Medicine (ABVM) exam.
Advanced Training
The second year will focus on in venous and lymphatic disease and wound care with an emphasis on peripheral venous procedures. After the second year, the fellow will be eligible to sit for the boards offered by the American College of Phlebology and American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine (ABVLM).
Jobst Vascular Laboratory
Access to the well-established Jobst Vascular Laboratory on the campus of ProMedica Toledo Hospital offers Jobst vascular medicine fellows a strong education advantage. There, our fellows gain vital skills performing and evaluating non-invasive vascular diagnostic procedures. Learning in this well-appointed facility is an invaluable tool for preparing for the Registered Physician Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) exam.
The Jobst Vascular Laboratory provides more than 20,000 inpatient and outpatient examinations per year and is approved by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories. The Jobst laboratory has a long record of major research activity that has produced many publications and multiple scientific achievement awards at national meetings. For a large number of vascular conditions, the non-invasive diagnostic laboratory provides sufficient information for clinical decision-making and documentation of patient outcomes. As you gain vascular experience, you will become proficient in all aspects of laboratory practice.
Earning RPVI certification is required at the end of the first year of this vascular medicine fellowship. Your time in the Jobst Vascular Laboratory will provide you with the credential-qualifying experience in vascular ultrasound interpretation.
